summary: For the avengers meme, which asked for an AU where Thor was kicked to earth a long time before the movie, so that the ‘soldier of fortune’ assessment by Coulson is actually true. Or in which Tony’s Epic Strategy to Get Into Agent Blake’s Pants doesn’t always go well.
Last week, Paul Ryan gave an interview in which, defending his position that there should be no excuses for abortion, he referred to rape as a “method of conception.”
The exact quote is “The method of conception doesn’t change the definition of life”. Akin’s quote probably got a lot more coverage because of his crackpot science ideas about the lol women’s bodies can shut down the process lol bit. Ryan’s always believed that there’s no excuses for abortion (which I don’t believe… and a 2011 Gallup poll indicated that 75% of Americans believe abortion should be legal in instances of rape or incest). Nothing new there on his front.
Still, follows a really horrific year, from the Akin comment to Limbaugh calling Sandra Fluke a slut for testifying in favour of contraceptive coverage, transvaginal probes for women seeking abortion (which IMO is pretty much rape tbh, coercive insertion of an object), trying to pass a bill with the ‘forcible’ rape language. Crazy people. And tone-deaf to popular opinion.
